History

Why a bike group for queers?  Queer Bike Gang began in the summer of 2008, when Josh Aaker and EG met at the 19 Bar. Both shared a love of cycling. Josh was already in Bike Jerks and wanted to be surrounded by more gays. EG had been wanting to start a gay cycling group to get away from the bar scene that Queers so often rely on for making social connections.

The group started out as the self-proclaimed “queer contingency” of Critical Mass, and it wasn’t long before they organized their own outings. Josh had since moved away to Chicago, and EG slowly grew the group through connections she made.
